What to Expect During the Hike

Your adventure begins approximately one kilometre past the Lower Cable Station on Table Mountain. From there, you’ll steadily climb the famous stone pathway through Platteklip Gorge.

Initially, the trail follows the left-hand side of the gorge before gradually entering the centre as the climb continues. Along the way, you’ll notice the impressive cliffs rising above you while enjoying regular opportunities to stop, catch your breath, and admire the spectacular surroundings.

Eventually, the gorge narrows dramatically, creating one of the most memorable sections of the hike. Shortly afterwards, you’ll reach the summit plateau. From there, you can either continue to Maclear’s Beacon, the highest point on Table Mountain, or head towards the Upper Cable Station for your descent.
